What my Class And I Did in Language Arts This Year

During the 6th grade year the whole grade and I read the book The Last Cuentista. It was an amazing book. It was very interesting and it was a little confusing. The book is by Donna Barba Higuera. The book took place in a super weird and interesting planet. In The Last Cuentista one of the main characters mentions cuentos, which are stories that got passed down through generations. This year we got to make a county of our own. You could write about a story that also got passed down through generations or you could make it about something you came up with. These stories and cuentos in my opinion are important to people because there stories that are passed down from families to your family and its an important story if its been passed down from generations and families.

A little bit after we finished The Last Cuentista we started working on our ideal world. My whole class got to make their ideal world and we got to make up funny and super cool world and words. We had to write all about what our ideal world would look like and feel like. We did this assignment because the characters in The Last Cuentista were in a weird and cool world. My ideal world was called Lises and it had floating islands and a lot of new animals there.

Another thing that we did pretty recently was book making with author and artist Peg Gignoux. Mrs. Peg makes these books with the whole 6th grade every year. We got to make plant prints and all types of things to put in our book. Inside of the book we put our ideal world and our cuentos in it. In the center of the inside of the book we have made a cut out of something to represent our ideal world or just something cool. My book didn’t look like what I described my ideal world like it had a lot of red, blue, and a little bit of yellow. It was really fun to make a handmade book this year!

Overall, class inside of Language Arts and outside. this year was really fun and was full of all of the things I enjoy. Thank you Mrs. Donnelly so so much for being so supportive, fun, and so nice to me. I also want to thank Mrs. Peg for taking time out of her life to come and make these super cool books with us. This 6th grade year was so fun and I will always remember it.
